TREE is an educational toolkit which gives pupils the skills they need
to raise their own academic achievement and improve learning throughout
foundation and primary years.
TREE promotes a set of attributes that are proven to raise attainment,
reinforce positive behaviour and deliver much of the citizenship requirement.
The TREE framework is used by schools as a means of addressing the
current education agenda including the primary strategy, BIP and SEAL
as well as supporting recommendations from recent reports (e.g. Sir
Alan Steer report The Report of The Practioners’ Group on School
Behaviour and Discipline October 2005)
Placing the child at the centre of the learning process, TREE is a
tool for pupils to record their achievements in a structured manner,
working with or replacing a schools existing reward system to reinforce
positive behaviour and attitudes.
The TREE attributes are derived from the results of extensive consultation
with many teachers, parents, business and community organisations.
“The children take much more responsibility for themselves and
this is particularly noticeable through their attitude and commitment
towards homework. It has had a very positive effect on all our children
and this has been reflected in all areas of the school”
Jane Caldwell - Headteacher Havelock Primary
“The children are given targets and get a leaf as a reward. If
they tidy their bedrooms or help with the washing up, you can send a
leaf in as a reward for them”
“Its working with the school at home, rewarding good behaviour,
balancing it out so they are good at home and at school”
Keeley Oliver - Parent
“We are allowed to give people leaves if they are polite and help
them put their leaves onto the computer. All of us Tree monitors were
picked and I really enjoy it”
Connor Ramsey - year 6 pupil |
