Skillspath Ltd in partnership with ASDAN has developed the Skillskit programme which enables pupils to cover all the major areas of basic health and Safety prior to them attending their mandatory work experience.
The programme has been a joint venture between health and safety professionals and Key Stage 4 teachers, with the view to ensure that the subject matter receives enough focus and attention, and that the work is age appropritate and easy to deliver.
All parents expect schools to keep their children safe during the period of time that they are responsible for them, and work experience is no different. Pupils need to have an understanding of basic health and safety and the role they have to play within this.
However, the fact that pupils have followed the programme does not in any way releive any employer of their ultimate responsibility for health and safety.
